This app is one of the best that Ive ever used! I have tried many many different methods including several free apps, in class, and Rosetta Stone. None have helped me learn so rapidly or help me to feel so confident with what Im saying and Im only in the first few beginning lessons I can only imagine what it will be like once I get through the entire course. I paid for an entire year and the money spent is well worth it. Thank you so much for creating such an awesome app and method for learning a new language!
You should add Irish! Its a very unique language and my friend is Irish, and I wanna talk to her like normal Irish people and Im part Irish! So can you soon add Irish, please!
Very in depth app at a reasonable price for learning a new language. The forced learning of both Latin American and Castilian forms of Spanish drag it down two stars. The dual pronunciation and different meanings makes it too difficult to learn. I want to speak Spanish, not be a dual Spanish language expert.
I love this app! Its the best language learning app Ive tried. Im on the beginner course but Ive already learned so much. I thought the subscription was a little expensive at first, but if you use it every day then its worth every penny.
Great app with many languages to learn and beautiful visual design
Very good app!!
My boyfriend is French and wanting to learn the language. This is app is fantastic.
This had no filipino languages nor other asian except for indonesian
I only did 1 thing and I have to pay $10 for part 2 I dont want to pay. So if I were you then I would not get it unless I was rich
Im only a few lessons in, but have had a great experience so far! From what my husband says, their techniques are similar to Rosetta Stone. I have some basic memory of Spanish, and have not encountered any mistakes, or app glitches. Very pleased!
So, when I read the description for Babbel, it said that you were given access to thousands of lessons to a bunch of different languages, for FREE. Even the app was free. See, when you make an app, you dont load it with monthly subscriptions when the upfront cost for it is zilch. Yeah, 10$ isnt that much, but what if you just cant make the time for Babbel all thirty-ish days of the month? If you say free access, you should mean it, and not just hide behind your user terms and agreements, which I dont think this app even has. When I downloaded this and finished the first lesson, it asked me for a monthly subscription. First I just thought, oh, this is just some premium thing. Its definitely not for access to the FREE LESSONS. If you have, I dont know, forty dollars to blow on a language app, you can certainly get this. It has a really nice interface and the lessons are pretty good. But, if you just want to learn a freaking language without paying, use Duolingo. Not as pretty, has IAPs, but hey, at least it doesnt ask for ten dollars just to use it.
Each one has been helpful in their on way. Im learning Spanish in order understand the patients more completely. The interpreters are great but it certainly is better being able to directly understand the conversations with the patients. Since starting Babbel my ability to speak Spanish is catching up with my ability to understand the spoken and written language.
I like the way they give you the information and the way you learn!
Its the best lesson I have ever used for Scandinavian languages for different types of learners
Now, I found this app by a commercial on TV. It said that it was free to use. And, it is, at first. I downloaded the app, and started the first lesson. It was great. I understood everything pretty quick, and it was easy to use. Except, even though it SAID it was free, it wasnt after the first lesson. If your willing to spend your money on this, then it is a pretty good app, but if you want free, just use Duolingo.
***after using for about a week, I still like it, but have noticed that its stymied by background noise. I was practicing (quietly) in a restaurant and it couldnt rate my speech, same thing in the grocery store. *** Im using this with Duolinguo to learn Italian. I like Duolinguos game-style approach (snap! The jobs a game!), but appreciate the logic, context, and emphasis on conversational utility behind Babbel. I predict being a much better prepared traveler, in the wake of practicing daily on both. And hey, maybe then Ill brush up my high school language skills and branch out even further!
The conversational approach to learning a language seems better than the approach taken by other apps like Duolingo. But there are issues. After some experimentation, the microphone settings can be arranged in such a way as to improve the speech recognition capabilities of program. But depending on how you use inflection in your voice it is not necessarily going to work when you start. This app is too rigid and unyielding in accepting answers from the student. There is no opportunity to make corrections for typographical errors before submitting the answer. Using this on an iPhone with its small keyboard almost demands an opportunity to fix typos. And the inexplicable lack of a click when using the spacebar just adds to the frustration of using the chiclet keyboard. Ive raised these points with customer service. I would like to say they have been responsive, answering my questions within a day. But I have my doubts that any of my issues will make it past them and up to the development team for consideration.
I cant pay with itunes gift card, and why it has two diffrent prices 9.99$ in app and 12.99 in website , I like it but Im angry with U guys !
Babel is a great app for language development skills. I am currently learning French and the level of my retention and progress is much improved over more conventional language learning apps. Id highly recommend this app for those who wish to develop grammar and vocabulary skills quickly for any given language.
